Mechanical and Structural Design

Mechanical and structural design are an essential part of piping and plant design. Piping TechEng provides these services for skid based systems, modular systems, pipe racks, equipment support, and custom piping supports.

Skid based Systems

Skid based systems are increasingly common in many industries including process plants, power plants, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology. These systems can include only equipment or piping, or a combination of both. Pump or compressor skids, CIP systems, WFI systems, RO systems, blowers and dryers are some of the examples of common systems that are implemented as skid mounted systems. The systems are common in both commercial and pilot plants.

Advantages of Skid-Based and Modular Systems

Skid-based systems offer multiple benefits, including a compact footprint, ease of transportation, improved access and maintenance and simplified installation. Skid-based systems are also scalable. They can be individual systems or multiple of them can be combined in a modular system. Design and fabrication of the whole plant as a modular system is very common in pilot plants.

Skid and Modular Design Solutions

Piping TechEng provides design services for both skid mounted and modular systems. Working closely with clients, we provide the most efficient and cost-effective skid and modular design that meets the constraints of the project requirements such as available footprint, material of construction, accessibility, and client standards. For modular systems, we offer multiple prepared layouts to find the optimum layout through discussion with clients. The process of detailed design is started once the client performs structural analysis and approves the design. Fabrication drawings, GA and BOM are a part of deliverables that are provided upon completion of detailed design.

Piping and Equipment Supports

Design of piping and equipment supports are a part of plant design. We offer detailed design of the items, such as pipe racks and secondary steel structures for equipment support. In addition to fabrication drawings, Piping TechEng also calculates and provides mechanical loads on pipe racks and equipment supports which are used in structural analysis.
